Know your phone. The importance of pre-race tests to accurately know your phone's performance cannot be understated.

Know your opponent's phone. There is an old Chinese saying that goes "Know yourself and your opponent, and you will win a hundred out of a hundred battles." The same goes for cell phone racing. Proper knowledge of phones is crucial when you have a choice of the course of challenge.

Know your rings. Different rings actually have different corresponding vibrates. There is no "best" ring, different ones perform differently on different surfaces.

Keep your batteries fresh. Always charge up before a race.

Keep your phone clean. In most cases, a smooth bottomed phone will go faster. This is not always the case, so be aware! In some cases, it may even be advantageous to race with the battery panel off!

Keep your phone in good working order. This goes without saying.

Always remember to set to vibrate. Otherwise, your phone will just sit there playing music while your opponent wins the race!

Consider different angles. Pointing the phone straight to the finish line is not always the best way. If the surface is textured, a diaganol path may be faster.
