Manga Art Exchange (MAX) is this site that opened in late December 2001 as a go-between for artists to draw each others' characters. As a charter member of MAX, here's a display of what I've given and gotten out of it. Rounds run every half month, and sign up is open to anyone. Visit their site for details.

    New York City / Tokyo.

At time of drawing, Celxtreme's gallery lacked adequate description of the characters. Since his work shows an interest in anime as well as New York City, though, I went for this scene that mixes a bit of both cities.
    Materials: Fibertip pen.

Modesty: " I kind of experimented with this one after coloring it. I wanted it to look less smooth, more "cool!" And I must say, I had fun with it. Hope you like it!"

    Ume Takahashi from Umeda Story

Hawk: " "76 round, A. Twu! Thank you!... I like your Umeda comic the most because I used to live there."

    Illustration of the artist.

Tessa's from Montana, and the design of this picture is based much on the state flag. First time coloring on the computer; the bold colors and crisp lines are nice; doing it with a mouse is a little less so.
    Materials: Ink and Computer graphics.

    Illustration for the story Awaken

Lani's gallery introduced me to the fractal graphics program Apophysis, which was used along with Paint Shop Pro to create this image. This scene is from the opening of Awaken, when Gaia creates a vision from the swirling cosmos.
    Materials: Computer graphics.

Modesty: " I decided to use flash to ink and color this piece. Really like how it came out! Anyway, she seemed like a very pretty character, so I dolled her up. It's been awhile since I drew a female character for the exchange! wowza! "

Ankyo is the Goddess of Life who also happens to be a chainsmoking alcoholic with a gambling problem. Sounds a lot like many architecture students I know, so here's Architect Ankyo.

    Molly from Chemical State Stories

Lani: "Now...I think this is Molly for Chemical State Enterprises. Given that the comic I was looking at is B/W and there were no bios I could find... I had to guess at hair and eyes....but she struck me as having the look she's got so we're all good! This was a truly fun piece to work on...though, the little testtubey things did drive me up the farkin' wall. o.o LOL!
Anyway... [link] I highly recommend checking out the stories archived at this site...it's wonderful ironic, thought provoking stuff filled with good humor and creativity.
As you see here...Molly is busy hard at work...even with Halloween just around the corner... working on a newer, more potent version of Toxic Waste, the only beverage that will literally make your brain explode!"
