Manga Art Exchange (MAX) is this site that opened in late December 2001 as a go-between for artists to draw each others' characters. As a charter member of MAX, here's a display of what I've given and gotten out of it. Rounds run every half month, and sign up is open to anyone. Visit their site for details. March 2002 B Outgoing To: Xalan Sourkat The Hideway Crossroads Kit One of Xalan's main characters. I couldn't find much information, but I was able to get a rough idea of Kit's personality from the pictures available, and from there I designed her this car, which she drives down the expressway in in this picture. Incoming From: Chealsea C. (Topaz) Meripoble Mei Jing (Egg) from Stupid Melon Dumb Egg For this MAX round, I requested that a extensive background be drawn, and I got it, thanks to hard-working Topaz. Here, Topaz has got the "watching the clock and waiting for it to get to punch out time" going-- in the city mayor's office! March 2002 A Outgoing To: Chealsea C. (Topaz) Meripoble Femme Fatale Comic Page 1 Page 2 A secret agent comic set in the near future. Topaz's comic "Femme Fatale" has over 60 pages and 3 chapters already, so the characters were fairly well developed- the female action agent, the computer hacker, the dispatcher, etc. In this two page short, they attempt to break into MAX headquarters. Incoming From: Metalmiku and Esuteru Metalmiku's Domain Mr. Gerbil from Mega Mole A funny one-page comic strip of Mr. Gerbil vs. Building. Metalmiku and Esuteru worked together on this, my first joint-MAX recieved. February 2002 B Outgoing To: Dot Warner Concept Space Irene A magical girl. Not a lot of reference or information was available at the time of illustration, so I drew Irene in a costume like one drawn by Dot, with her reading a Dot comic book. Incoming From: Andrew Luers Ocean's End Melon from Stupid Melon Dumb Egg This picture of Melon was drawn from a brief text description of the character that I provided. It stated height, weight, hair color, ethnicity, occupation, and a couple of personality traits. February 2002 A Outgoing To: Brianne Sacred Kith Aziele Zepheer from Sacred Kith, a series of fantasy charcters. A half-elf half-human (yay for interracial marriage) with an affinity for water. Aziele was a well developed character, and had quite a particularly drawable trait- the affinity for water. Saying that, I drew her in my ink outline and colored pencil style and added a colored pencil background with water and a city skyline- a typical element in my drawing. Incoming From: Emiko There Be Elves King Yuan from May We Live in Interesting Times Most amazingly, this was done by Emiko in Oekaki, an online graphics program. Januaury 2002 B Outgoing To: Andrew Luers Ocean's End Lisa and Sithe from Ocean's End, a series of fantasy charcters. A sneaky theif from Ocean's End. A kleptomaniac warrior from Ocean's End. Ocean's End had a whole set of characters, so, to return the favor that I got from Reed of having two characters drawn, I drew two as well. Looking for two with something in common, I found LIsa and Sithe, two otherwise completely unrelated characters who both like to steal things. Thus, the wanted-poster format. Incoming From: Brianne Sacred Kith Mei Jing (Egg) fromStupid Melon Dumb Egg and May We Live in Interesting Times This pic was drawn from by Brianne in her style based on the 2002 Solar New Year's circular picture. Januaury 2002 A Outgoing To: Charles (Darksortie) DKWorks- Realm of the Darksortie Kamakaze Joe from Kamakaze Joe, a comic about a beastman fighter who likes to eat. One of Darksortie's main characters, Kamakaze Joe has an extended profile available in the Profiles section of DKWorks. This version features the "Kamakaze Joe Supermarket" located in Sunshine City (From my Stupid Melon Dumb Egg. Note No. 1 Chemical and City Hall buildings. Incoming From: Reed Hawker (Hawk) Alternate Dimension Melon and Egg from Stupid Melon Dumb Egg Melon and Egg enjoy some Chinese take out noodles in a park. Hawk drew both, as "why seperate the two?" Nice guy! |
